Autumn escapes from under £100
With crisp and clear mornings, colourful autumnal scenes and cosy evenings to wrap-up warm for, October and November are truly some of the best times of the year to get away and take a bit of time out from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
It’s also a great time to enjoy some of the country’s best glamping and holiday park sites, with some brilliant deals available to couples or families.
Leading outdoor accommodation specialists Pitchup.com have highlighted six perfect places for an autumn break, catering for all budgets.

Bybrook Alpacas, Carmarthenshire
A place to really get-away-from-it-all, Bybrook Alpacas is situated on the edge of the Preseli Mountains where the animals are the life and soul of this peaceful site. The resident Shetland ponies, chickens and the site's namesake woolly alpacas are the friendliest of neighbours and tend to be a favourite with all of the family. Beyond the farm, guests are spoilt for choice with things to do from taking to the Preseli Mountains on bike or foot to slower-paced strolls in the surrounding woodlands and bigger thrills at the nearby adventure parks. The log pods are an excellent choice for a cosy and conscious stay. The manufactured wood is from sustainable forests, the insulation is to a high standard to retain heat, and each pod has a solar panel on the roof to provide power for LED lighting. For alfresco nights under the stars, light the chiminea and cosy up by a roaring fire.

Riverview Caravan Park - Lincolnshire
A dog-friendly site on the River Witham, Riverview Caravan Park is a short 10-minute drive from Tattershall, a 35-minute drive from Lincoln and 15 from Tattershall Farm Park. With a family bar, playground and games room, it’s the perfect place for waterside walks, fishing, or just enjoying the riverside views. The River Witham provides a peaceful backdrop and autumnal sunsets can be a spectacular kaleidoscope of colour. RAF Coningsby is a short distance away, so you can settle down for your own personal air show and enjoy the sights.

Glenwhan Gardens, Dumfries and Galloway
Described as one of the most beautiful gardens in Scotland, Glenwhan Gardens is situated at 300 feet and overlooks Luce Bay and the Mull of Galloway, with clear views to the Isle of Man. Forty years ago there was wild moorland, but now, following considerable dedication and vision, you can see glorious collections of plants from around the world. A luxury shepherd's hut is nestled in the 12-acre ornamental garden so you can stay and enjoy the autumn colours at dawn and dusk. It’s a wildlife haven for spotting red squirrels and these family-run gardens are a 15-minute drive from the town of Stranraer and boast a backdrop of sea views.
The cosy shepherd's hut overlooks the stunning lake and has a well-equipped kitchen, wood burning stove, a shower room, comfortable double bed, parking space and free wifi. In spite of the seclusion, Glenwhan Gardens has a tearoom serving full meals as well as cakes, sandwiches and drinks, and guests are welcome to explore the gardens at will, including the 17-acre moorland walk.

Wantisden Park - Suffolk
Set on a private estate, Wantisden Park is a private glamping site in the lush Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is around a 15-minute drive from the sea. It overlooks ancient oak woodland and lakes home to countless plants and wildlife – including wild deer – so it’s a top base for holidaymakers keen on roaming the countryside. As well as wandering around the estate, guests at this site might like to partake in walks through the surrounding forestry. Plenty of pretty villages are also nearby: Orford, famed for its smokehouse, Norman castle and quay overlooking the banks of the River Ore (with boat rides available), is a 15-minute drive away and the seaside towns of Aldeburgh and Thorpeness, with their sweeping sandy beaches, are a 25 and 30-minute drive away. If you’re not grabbing a takeaway from one of the fish ‘n’ chip shops at these spots, retreat to the site for lunch at the Oaks Café or pick up essentials at the small shop to whip up a quick meal.
