October/November 2021

Hello lovely readers and welcome to another issue of Your Herts and Beds Wedding. Autumn is such a beautiful time of year to exchange vows and Christmas is just around the corner – sorry, I couldn’t help but slip that in there!

As we look back on the last 18 months, it has been an emotional roller coastal for us all with the lockdowns, restrictions and uncertainties. But I’ve never been prouder of the wedding industry who has worked hard to support couples and help them plan the perfect day, while meeting various guidelines in place.

With the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions, whoops and cheers, there’s a fantastic buzz in the world of weddings and I’m over-the-moon to see so many special events taking place with lots of celebrations – I’ve missed seeing everyone up on the dancefloor dancing the night away!

Planning a wedding is such an exciting experience and if I could share one piece of advice, it would be to get organised from the get-go. Make a list of everything that’s important to you both and highlight any priorities. It’s always good to have an idea of what you want on your big day, but I recommend not just focusing on one style and ruling everything else out. Start the planning process with an open mind and discover new elements and exciting ideas that could work well for your day.

If you’re on the hunt for local suppliers, you’re in luck because we’ve searched high and low to find trustworthy companies. In this wonderful issue, you’ll find stellar advice, top tips and inspiration to help you plan the perfect day. From beauty experts, stunning venues, florists, cake bakers and more – we’ve got you covered!

Turvey House

Situated in 150 acres of stunning parkland, Turvey House is a magnificent Grade I listed county house built-in 1794. As guests enter the long-sweeping driveway, they’ll be blown away by the building and the beautiful gardens. The venue knows that no two weddings are the same, which is why the team is very flexible and allows couples to take over the grounds with few limitations. With the magnificent house as a backdrop, views of the River Great Ouse, and exclusive use of the saces, couples are sure to create their dream day.

Turvey House doesn’t have a ceremony space, but lovebirds can have a celebrant-led wedding anywhere on the grounds and continue the celebrations in a traditional-country marquee, a tipi tent or a stretch marquee. The beautiful-walled garden is the perfect place for wedding photography as well as the terrace at the front of the house, which offers uninterrupted views.

Nestled in the magical woodlands, the beautiful River Cottage is new from 2021, and includes three bedrooms, a sitting room with a wood burner and fully-refurbished spaces.

Everything you need to know about wedding traditions

Traditions have played a huge part in weddings for hundreds of years, with more recent, modern weddings incorporating a mix of both old and new. With the wedding season in full swing, here's some of the most popular wedding traditions, looking at their origins as well as modern alternatives. Here at County Wedding Magazines HQ we still love some of the classics, such as exchanging the rings and having a wedding cake, but would happily say cheerio to the father-daughter dance and throwing the bouquet! Have a read and see how many you want to keep!
