Wowcher’s spa expert Cheryl Corns shares five ways to enjoy a little luxury for less

A relaxing spa visit doesn’t have to involve an overnight stay or a three-figure budget. From choosing a shorter treatment with facilities access to comparing afternoon packages, there are ways to enjoy a little luxury while keeping spending down. Cheryl Corns, Wowcher’s spa expert, shares five practical tips to help people find a spa experience that suits their budget.

“Start with what you’d most enjoy from your visit,” says Cheryl. “A massage, a swim and some time in the sauna might be exactly what you’re looking for. You don’t necessarily need a long treatment or an overnight stay to make it feel like a treat.

“The key is to compare the whole experience—what treatment you get, which facilities you can use and how much time you have there—so you choose something that works for you.”

1. Compare days and times

Having some flexibility can open up more affordable options. Compare weekday and weekend prices, as well as afternoon and twilight packages.

Cheryl says: “If you can be flexible about when you visit, look at a few different options before booking. An afternoon or evening package may give you the experience you want at a lower price. Check the eligible days and times so you can plan your visit around the offer.”

2. Pair a shorter treatment with facilities access

A shorter treatment combined with time in the pool, sauna or steam room can offer an affordable route to a fuller spa experience.

Cheryl says: “A 25- or 30-minute facial or massage can be the centrepiece of your visit, with time in the facilities before or afterwards. Compare the treatment length alongside the facilities access—you may find that a shorter treatment package gives you everything you wanted from your day.”

3. Choose a package around what you enjoy

Decide which parts of the experience matter most before comparing packages.

Cheryl says: “If your ideal visit is a massage followed by a quiet swim, use that as your starting point. A bigger package isn’t automatically better value if it includes things you wouldn’t otherwise choose. Spend your budget on the parts you’ll enjoy most.”

4. Compare packages with food included

For anyone planning to eat during their visit, a package including lunch or afternoon tea may be worth considering.

Cheryl says: “Compare the package price with booking the spa experience and food separately. If you already wanted both, bringing them together can offer good value and make the visit feel like more of an occasion.”

5. Explore spas closer to home

Hotel spas and day spas can provide an escape without the cost of accommodation.

Cheryl says: “You don’t have to travel far or stay overnight to enjoy a little luxury. Look at spas within easy travelling distance—you could enjoy a treatment and time in the facilities while keeping more of your budget for the experience itself.”

Cheryl adds: “Luxury for less is about finding an experience you’ll enjoy at a price you’re comfortable with. A little flexibility and a clear idea of what you want can help you make the most of your spa budget.”
