JD Williams reveal how to dress for a winter wedding

Occasionwear dress, coat and boots from JD Williams

Winter wedding season is in full swing, and while the settings are romantic and magical, the temperatures are anything but. From candlelit ceremonies to snowy photo sessions, staying warm without compromising on style is key. December is the most popular month for winter weddings and guests across the country are planning their outfits, with Google search interest for 'winter wedding guest outfit' up by 633%.

Monica Wahla, head of buying for womenswear at JD Williams has shared her top tips for how to keep warm this winter wedding season which includes layering up, and investing in good quality outerwear that can still look stylish.

Layer up
"Layering is your secret weapon. Think sheer thermals under a satin slip dress, or a long-sleeve body beneath sequins, they keep you warm without adding bulk. It's all about invisible layers that let the outfit shine."

Outerwear is key
"A statement coat or faux fur stole not only keeps you cosy but adds drama to your look. If you want something lighter, a chic cape or tailored blazer can be a stylish alternative. Make the most of the cloakrooms so you can let your outfit shine while at the wedding and then keep warm while waiting for your end-of-night Uber."

Accessories offer the finishing touch
"Opt for tights in luxe opaques or subtle shimmer to stay warm without losing the wedding feel, and don't underestimate the power of a glove or wrap. For outdoor photos, hand warmers slipped discreetly into a clutch can be a game-changer."

Shoes can make or break comfort
"Closed-toe heels or even heeled boots in velvet or satin look just as polished as strappy sandals, but are much more winter-friendly. Don't forget the basics - If you know you'll be standing outside for a while, pop a heat patch on your lower back under your dress, no one will ever know, but you'll be glad you did."

"With the right styling tricks, it's possible to look polished, stay warm all while enjoying the season's biggest celebrations," concludes Monica. https://www.jdwilliams.co.uk
