There's nothing more romantic than designing your own engagement ring. James Veale, founder of Hertfordshire's Veale Fine Jewellery, works with couples (or your hubby-to-be) to create the perfect piece. Here he shares his top tips…
Is it costly to go bespoke? You should only spend what you're comfortable with. You want to do it well with an amount you can afford, rather than spending less and upgrading later down the line. The minimum spend for a bespoke ring with Veale Fine Jewellery is £1,500.
How do we design our ring? After going through your ideas, I draw up two- or three-dimensional computer designs that can be rotated to give you a view from any angle. We'll then go back and forth until you're happy.
How long does it take? Once you've approved the design we then start the creation process, which takes between four to six weeks.
