Discover popular bridal trends for 2021

Stunning dress available at Oliver's Bridal & Formalwear Ltd

We caught up with Sarah Stutton at Oliver's Bridal & Formalwear Ltd to find out what trends will be popular this year. She says, "It's been a heartbreaking year for would-be brides, but we're hopeful they'll have everything to look forward to in 2021. A fixed date, all the friends and family they want around them on the long-awaited biggest day of their life and most importantly of all, the dream dress.

"We predict that brides who have their (bejewelled) finger on the fashion pulse will resign the traditional pouffy Cinderella dresses of fairytales in favour of lighter, more relaxed and less 'fussy' silhouettes. Our pick of Stella York’s stunning collection and upcoming spring collection focuses on figure-flattering sheer lace, sumptuous satin, low scoop backs, sexy slits and sleek tailoring.

“We’re head-over-heels in love with style, 7083. A plunging petal-strewn sheer bodice, this dreamy dress cinches in at the waist giving way to swathes of delicate tulle – divine! For brides who prefer a more simpler style, 7099 is a figure-hugging mikado fit and flare gown featuring a straight neckline. It’s been in our boutique for less than a week and every bride through the door has asked to try it on.

“The friendly team at Oliver’s Bridal can’t wait to introduce brides-to-be to Stella York’s latest collection. Your dream dress awaits.”

From best mates to distant relatives: Brits reveal the wedding gift hierarchy

How much should you spend on a wedding gift? It seems the answer depends on just how well you know the happy couple. New research from One4all Gift Cards has revealed that almost half of Brits (49%) would spend less on a wedding gift if they were not particularly close to the couple. The relationship came out ahead of travel and accommodation costs (38%) and paying for a hen or stag do (28%) when it comes to factors influencing how much guests are prepared to spend. For those closest to them, Brits consider an average of £77 per person to be an acceptable wedding gift. The most popular amount was between £50 and £100, selected by 43% of respondents, while 36% believe spending up to £50 is perfectly acceptable. Just 5% would spend more than £200.
