2026 wedding trends that are set to dominate your feed

As wedding-related searches such as ‘dream wedding’ and ‘wedding décor inspo’ are up 10,000% year-on-year according to Pinterest trends, it’s clear that couples are turning their attention to the finer details of their nuptials.

To guide couples through 2026 wedding planning, Jess Levick, Assistant Buyer at Suit Direct, and Lucy Hook, Floral Lead at Bloom & Wild, reveal the key wedding trends shaping celebrations next year, covering regency romance, natural colour palettes and hyper-personalised celebrations.

The Bridgerton effect: Regency romance is set to take over 2026 weddings:

Bridgerton has officially infiltrated wedding planning, with searches for ‘Bridgerton weddings’ up 40% month-on-month, signalling that couples are inspired by Regency era opulence and the show’s bewitching themes of passion and true love. And with season 4 set for release in early 2026, Regency influence is expected to be seen across every element of 2026 weddings.

“Grooms are looking for statement style with a black-tie dress code. We’re expecting to see plenty of classic tuxedos, velvet blazers and bold, double-breasted tailoring that add old-style glamour to a wedding. The styles and colours are elegant, with jewel tones like burgundy, emerald and sapphire remaining popular, “ says Jess.

For brides, this means the return of long sleeves, particularly in sheer lace or tulle, paired with empire waistlines and delicate pearl detailing to capture a romantic feel.

We can also expect to see the return of historic venues like estates, manor houses or garden venues with a regency character.

Mix & match styling:

Wedding parties for both brides and grooms are moving away from identical outfits. Instead of putting every member of the groom party in the same suit and accessories, couples are choosing one colour palette, then playing with tone, texture and fabric to create subtle differences across the group. Ties, waistcoats, pocket squares and boutonnières give each groomsman room to show personality while keeping the party cohesive.

Jess says: “More groom parties are choosing one main colour, then mixing different shades and textures through their suits and accessories. One groomsman might wear a blue wool blend, another a softer flannel in a lighter shade, but it still feels coordinated.”

This shift fits with the move towards smaller, more personal celebrations, and helps each person find colours and styles they feel comfortable and confident in.

"Our SS26 seasonal suit linings are inspired by vintage crockery, painted plates and the idea of pressing flowers after the wedding, so the suit feels like part of the keepsakes from the day," says Jess.

The same shift is showing up in wedding decor. Mixed prints, mismatched china and vintage-style glassware are appearing on tablescapes, giving receptions a nostalgic feel rather than a completely matching finish.

wedding table neutral tones

The 2026 colour palette favours soft, natural tones:

Understated tones are going to dominate 2026 colour schemes. After years of statement weddings, couples are leaning into more nature-inspired colour palettes that bring a sense of calm and connection to the proceedings.

"At Suit Direct, we’ve designed our SS26 collection with these gorgeous, understated shades in mind," says Jess. "We’re expecting grooms to favour colours like sage, pale blue and stone in both linen and textured fabrics."

“Brown is very popular for Autumn and Winter, but we’ll see this give way to lighter camel and sand tones for summer.”

In décor, we can expect to see subtle layering that plays with texture and tone, rather than contrast. Picture sage green tapered candles, delicate florals, or powder-blue linen napkins that create a tablescape that feels soft and romantic.

Powder-blue and sage green are set to be the bridesmaid colours of the year, pairing well with neutrals, making them perfect for a wedding at any time of year. Brides are also finding ways to tie in with their bridal party, swapping traditional white heels for powder-blue satin, or adding embroidery to their veil to add colour and personality.

Smaller guest lists and personal celebrations:

Couples are craving ceremonies that feel deeply personal. In 2026, there is an increased focus on genuine connection and personality, rather than meeting guest expectations or social obligations.

“There’s been a rise in smaller weddings throughout 2025, based on what we are seeing across our grooms,” adds Jess.

There will likely be a surge in city hall or registry office ceremonies, paired with intimate restaurant dinners or unique after-parties to celebrate. Couples are choosing to tone down their spending and prioritise what matters to them.

Candle cake takes over the retro-inspired cake of 2025

Cakes are also turning more romantic. 2025 saw the rise of the retro heart cake, with bright colours and piping. We’re now moving away from these, and candle cakes are emerging as one of the key trends for 2026, with a 200% hike in searches year-on-year. These cakes fit perfectly with the regency aesthetic, adding romance to tablescapes.

2026 Floral forecast:

Floral Lead at Bloom & Wild, Lucy Hook, explains that “In 2026, wedding florals will feel airy, tonal and textured, moving away from over-styled arrangements toward more fluid, garden-inspired designs.”

“We’re seeing a shift toward palettes that feel calm, elegant, and full of texture,” says Lucy, “Lilacs and soft blues have a nostalgic quality, while champagne tones add warmth and sophistication; together, they create that ‘modern fairytale’ feeling so many couples are after.”

Some of the key flowers we can expect to see in bouquets are:

  • Delphinium ‘Guardian Lavender’: Delphinium adds immediate impact to ceremony arches, staircase installations, and statement vases. The soft tone pairs perfectly with powder blue and champagne accents.
  • Limonium ‘Safora Lilac’ and ‘Donau Birds’: These small, filler flowers add gentle movement and a softness to bouquets. Their subtle lilac shade complements the dreamier palettes of the year and gives a light, textural touch to any wedding day vibe.
  • Matthiola ‘StoX Champagne’:  Champagne tones are set to replace blush as the go-to neutral. These ruffled, delicately scented flowers would be a showstopper in any bridal arrangements, especially when layered with ivory roses and soft greenery.
